Setup takes a few minutes. You need an internet connection for setup and activation. After that, file processing works offline.
1. Download the right build
Open Downloads and pick the installer for your computer: the exe for Windows, the dmg that matches your Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel), or the deb or AppImage for Linux. Every published file has a SHA-256 checksum. Check it before you open the installer.
2. Install SoraFiles Desktop
- Windows: run the installer. The current installer is unsigned, so SmartScreen may say that Windows protected your PC. What to do about SmartScreen.
- macOS: open the DMG and drag SoraFiles Desktop to Applications. The first launch may need your approval in Privacy & Security. Opening SoraFiles on macOS.
- Linux: install the deb package, or use the AppImage.
Desktop doesn’t update itself automatically. New versions are listed in the release notes.
3. Open it once
Open SoraFiles Desktop once so setup can finish. Your 7-day trial starts during installation on Windows, or on this first launch on macOS and Linux. After setup, Edit with SoraFiles is available in your file manager’s right-click menu, where the platform build supports it.
4. Activate a license when you’re ready
To keep using Desktop after the trial, choose License → Activate License and paste the key from your purchase email. Compare plans.
5. Run your first action
- Select a supported file, such as a PDF, in your file manager.
- Right-click and choose Edit with SoraFiles.
- Pick an action, for example Compress PDF.
The new file is saved beside the original, or in another folder you choose.
