Installing Desktop
Download the installer for your operating system from Downloads. Verify the published SHA-256 checksum before opening it. Desktop does not update itself automatically.
Windows SmartScreen
The current Windows installer is distributed unsigned, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may say that Windows protected your PC. After verifying the SHA-256 checksum and confirming that you downloaded the installer from the SoraFiles release page, select More info, then Run anyway. A publisher warning may continue until SoraFiles ships a certificate-signed installer.
Opening SoraFiles on macOS
The current Mac builds are ad-hoc signed and are not notarized by Apple. If macOS blocks the first launch, use these steps for a SoraFiles download you trust:
- Open the DMG, drag SoraFiles Desktop to Applications, then try opening it once.
- Open System Settings, select Privacy & Security, and scroll to the message about SoraFiles Desktop.
- Select Open Anyway, then confirm Open when prompted.
This approves the app on this Mac; it does not notarize it. If macOS reports that the app is damaged or will harm your computer, do not override that alert. See Apple’s opening instructions.
Trial and activation
Your free 7-day trial begins automatically when you first open SoraFiles Desktop on Windows, macOS or Linux. Connect to finish trial setup; waiting to connect does not extend the trial. To continue after the trial, choose License → Activate License and paste the key from your purchase email. File processing works offline after setup. Setup, activation and subscription renewals need an internet connection. A Lifetime license continues to work offline after activation.
Can't find your license email?
Check the inbox for the email address used at checkout, including Spam or Junk. Look for “Your License Key is Ready” from noreply@dodopayments.com. If it landed in Spam, mark it as not spam. If you still cannot find it, contact us for help.
Replacing a device
Open License → Replace device. SoraFiles sends a short-lived code to the purchaser email on the verified order. The address is masked in Desktop. After verification, the one-time replacement checkout opens; payment alone cannot bypass email verification.
